Bringing History to Life through First-Person Portrayals

Ann Lee (1736-1784), the “Elect Lady” of the Shakers, was an illiterate working woman from Manchester, England, whose charismatic leadership led to the formation of one of America’s most successful Christian communitarian sects.

This presentation outlines Mother Ann’s physical and spiritual journeys and also includes song and dance.  Mother Ann has appeared at Covenant at South Hills and for the Monongahela Daughters of the American Revolution.
